Why is "Packaging" a Product Important

Packaging a product properly should factor in how the END USER experiences the product and should ideally make their life easier.
We don't often think about "Packaging" for intangible services like we do for physical products but we should.
This packaging issue was brought home recently when I needed to repair a few things with a super strong glue. If you have ever used a super adhesive glue you known that after the first use, the remaining glue in the tube has to be thrown out because the finicky dispenser solidifies into cement.
My problem was thoughtfully addressed with a solution that provides "Single Use" amounts of the glue in small units. This packaged product is exactly what I needed and removed the frustration of having to throw out a tube that was only partially used. The company thought about the situation from my perspective and packaged their product in a way that met exactly my needs while removing the friction.
Intangible services are the same. How do your clients experience the product? Is that client journey central to your organizations planning and product development? If not, perhaps it would be worthwhile to think from the clients' perspective and see where friction can be eliminated.
